The Story of Aphrodite, film production in Cyprus

The Story of Aphrodite is a film charting the evolution of the goddess Aphrodite from her prehistoric origins, focusing on Cyprus as her birthplace and spiritual home. The production will capture the island at its most beautiful, receiving its premiere in Cyprus in September 2017 and London in October 2017. As well as showcasing current academic and archaeological research, the film will be a visual delight, imagining the island of Cyprus as the very incarnation of Aphrodite. The production is funded by the A. G. Leventis Foundation in cooperation with Dr Andreas Pittas and produced by SandStone Global. The Story of Aphrodite is presented by award-winning historian, author and broadcaster Professor Bettany Hughes. Hughes is working with a team that includes an award-winning director, director of photography and producer who between them have made over 100 landmark factual films for the BBC and the global film industry.
