Open polyclinics, MdM Greece

MdM Greece operate open polyclinics in Athens, Perama, Thessaloniki, Chania, Patras and Kavala, to support vulnerable people and social groups with limited or no access to the National Health System, such as uninsured and homeless people as well as migrants and refugees. Run by MdM volunteer medical and nursing staff, the open polyclinics focus on the provision of primary healthcare services, pharmaceutical coverage and psychosocial counselling. With the support of organisations such as the A. G. Leventis Foundation, from January to October 2016, the MdM Athens open polyclinic offered medical services to over 32.400 beneficiaries, distributed 635 courses of prescribed medication, and gave paediatric treatment and vaccination to 4.020 children. In total the open polyclinics reached 75.866 beneficiaries in 2016, caring for those most in need across the country.
