Museum of Archaeology and History of Art, University of Athens
Housed in the School of Philosophy, the Museum of Archaeology and History of Art of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens hosts more than 8,500 objects, grouped in 11 collections and acquired through both private and state donations and long-term loans from ephorates of antiquities and public museums. With the support of the A. G. Leventis Foundation, the museum was able to accommodate the display of new acquisitions of ancient artefacts and to renovate the information material, pedestals and supports for several collections, thus improving the educational and cultural experience of students, school pupils and the general public in this university environment. In particular, the donation of 15 Cypriot ceramics dating from the Middle Bronze Age to the Imperial period (collection of Professor P. Kitromilides) was accommodated in a new display, and new information panels were created for the collections of Ancient Sculpture, Epigraphy and Casts, and Rocks, Minerals and Ancient Technology.
