A. G. Leventis Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Greek Studies, University of Bristol

Since its founding in 2004, the Institute of Greece, Rome and the Classical Tradition (IGRCT) at the University of Bristol has become a pioneering and world-renowned centre for the study of the post-classical appropriations of ancient Greece and Rome across the globe. The A. G. Leventis Foundation is currently supporting a three-year fellowship in Greek Studies, which gives promising young academics the opportunity to build up vital experience of research and teaching at the start of their careers. The present fellow, Dr Adam Lecznar, is conducting ground-breaking research on philosophical and literary adaptations of ancient Greek tragedy during the 19th and 20th centuries, focusing on such diverse figures as the Nigerian Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka and the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche.
