The Smile of the Child Home, Aigio, Greece

The Smile of the Child (To Hamogelo tou Paidiou) is a Greek NGO for children and families at risk, active since 1996 as the outcome of a dream of a 10-year-old boy, Andreas Yannopoulos, who envisaged an organisation that would help children in need, underlining the right of every child, around the world, to smile. This mission is implemented with commitment and efficiency nationwide, 365 days a year and on a 24-hour basis, with direct actions aiming at the protection, safeguarding and promotion of the health and welfare of children in Greece regardless of their ethnicity and religion. Supporting the Organisation’s community home in Aigio, the A. G. Leventis Foundation’s grant provides for a ‘family’ of 30 children, aged from 6 months to 13 years, significantly facilitating their daily lives by providing, among other things, a much needed vehicle which serves everyday transportation needs.

Grants given:

2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021
